Camp Kaitawa Reflection

And these are my favorite photos from the first day to the last.

Reflection for Camp

My goal for camp was to finish every single challenge.

... I (achieved / did not achieve) this because I was feeling really cold so I didn't finish all of them I only didn't do one which was the rope challenge.

Something I was pleased with was… Doing the Master Chef.

…because… Me and my group were struggling a little bit and we were working really well together.
I really enjoyed learning… How to do something by myself.

…because… I was brave enough and I was excited to do something on my own.
Something I found hard was… Trying to keep warm because it was raining all week. And it was sometimes rough when it came to us.
Something that made me think was… If I give up then I will not achieve a camp goal. If I carry on then I will.
…because… My camp goal was to finish every single challenge. But I didn't.
· My top 5 favourite things about camp were:

Favourite Things
Reason Why
1. Masterchef
Because we worked well together and we had turns mixing the ingrediants.
2. Bedtime stories
Because I really liked the way Mr M was reading the storie about old man chompers. It was so scary. It felt like I didnt want to go back to my dawn. The scariest part is when Mr M said that when old man Chompers had lost his grandchildren. And that he had bad eyesite he might take you instead of his grandchildren and so yeah I liked that so much.
3. Caving
Because it was my very first time doing this great caving excperiance and I had fun with room 16.
4. Amazing Race
Because me and my group came last no matter what happened we had an amazing time. Well done Lightning Bolts.
5. Burmitrail
Because I was brave enough to do this on my own and I never gave up. I was giggling on the way. I punched the tree because something touched me on the hand and around my ankle. And a big branch came off from the other side.

We walk out from inside the camp and we line up in our camp groups by the toilets. It was the parents decision to pick a group. So we had Richard ( Cameron's dad).  We have our clue in the envelope and we couldn't open it yet until Misses Hill started counting to 1 from 10. She counts to down to 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 we open our first clue.

The first clue was taking place at the court by the lake. We had to use sticks to write one of our camp animals name. So we did hawk. We used different styles have sticks. Wet ones, big ones, skinny ones, and minny ones. We put them all together and we had spelt hawk.

Clue # 2 was next. We had to run back to camp to make the fudge. We entered the dining room and we can see another team had already finished. We quickly washed our hands and we quickly started. We started killing the biscuits and started adding in the egg. We put in the melted butter and the we put in the cocoa. We mix the fudge with our hands and we put them on the flat plate and we push them down a we put them in the refrigerator.

Our 3rd clue had come.  But we had to make a decision. It was either doing the physical or the thinking challenge. And we did the simple one the physical. We run back down to the courts to start the physical challenge. We did star jumps, press ups, and sit ups. Liam and Jessica were the first to do the star jumps. 10 of each exercise. Me and Olivia did the sit ups. I finish after my 10 and so Liam and Zach did the push ups.

Clue #4. Our clue was to go to the confidence course and climb over the less smaller wall. For this one we had to use teamwork. The first person that went over was Zach. Liam carried him over. Then it was me. And this was the weird part. Liam lifted me over. And I made it on the other side of the wall. Next he carried over Jessica Me and Zach grabbed her hands while her body was on the other side of the wall. And so we pulled her over and she landed on her feet. Olivia was the 3rd to last person. She kept falling and falling every time she tries to push herself to the top. But she made it on the 6th round. Richard helped Liam over and Richard was the last.

The 5th clue was next. We were running back to the camp and there was a puzzle waiting for us. We open the envelope and there were pieces of paper coming out from the envelope. They were shaped into triangles. We connect the edges and corners first and after we put in the insides. It was a mountain. It would be cool if you saw it for reals. It looks like a great view.  Clue 6.

We are coming. It was an kayaking challenge. We chose Jessica and Liam to kayak. The Titans are about to come to shore. So I help them come in. Jessica and Liam finally row faster. They meet Miss Patel at the other side have the lake. They get our next clue.

They quickly bring the clue back and it was our last clue. It was a tricky one. It said “ wlka hte irew ridgeb” which was known as walk the wire bridge. And off we go to the confidence course. We wait until all of us were here. We start after we got back Jessica. We start t the end and we make it to the end. We run back and we see the other groups were already there. We came last;. But the main thing was having an fun and amazing time at camp.

We walk to our vehicles ready to go to the Onepoto caves. We got there after the other vehicles arrived. We open the van door and quickly jump out to get ready to go to our very first cave. We meet miss Hill by the other van lining up for the caves. I hope the caves are expecting us today. Okay lets get started on our first cave. We start travelling to the cave. We walk on the wet leaves and mud that we can see sticking up from between the gaps from the leaves We walk and walk until we meet our first cave.

I can see the people in front have me bending down on their knees and I would have noticed I had to crawl all the way out. We quickly move up when all the other kids had already been. But there were more people behind me. I start bending down on my knees and start crawling through. I turn on my head torch on and start searching if I can see and wetas beside me or above me. I crawl out from the cave and I shouted in my head “ ahhh my first cave I made it I made it can't wait for the next cave” I said. I think my liver was laughing. Anyway we all had a turn in the cave we moved on to our second cave. I said to one of the students “ Are you enjoying this because I am” “ Yes” They replied. We started moving on to our next cave. We walk on the leaves and past the trees. I see a big shelter made out of rock and I had to know that it was the next cave. It was.

I wait behind Bridget ( Bree’s mum) until it was my turn. The line moved fast and this time I didn't have to go on my knees this time. It was longer this time. It was awesome. I can see one weta on the top have the rock and three baby ones. When we got out I told another student “ Did you see a weta and and a few baby ones” “I think so” They replied. We moved on to the next cave after the other people went through the cave. I am looking forwards to go through more.

The third cave was the most difficult. I can listen to the moaning from in front of the adult in front have me. It was my turn. Oh no it was a very small cave. When we start crawling inside the tight gaps our hands first gets squished in the mud and when we made it halfway me and Marcus see a very big area. It was like half have my classroom. I climb out have the cave after Miss Hill takes a photo trying to catch up with the rest have the kids.

Finally we can have a break. We sat down had afternoon tea. Today we had four different flavours have biscuits and a bar. It was so yummy. Miss Hill gave me more. BINGO. We line up to get started for our next cave.

We enter our cave and we had to walk down on this one. I quickly turn on my head torch to see if there were any wetas. But I can't see anything but Bens fear. Spiders. We walk up onto the chewed up mud and walk our way out. We walked again and again after cave and cave until our very very last cave.

It was so incredible. Before I can even go into the cave I get ready to put on my torch and also to get my hands ready to climb. My first step in the cave. I can imagine all the insects calling my name. Ellis Ellis Ellis you may enter this wonderful cave. I walk and walk on top have the mud and dirty leaves. I walk up and down and around. I climb down the tall ladder. And Walk up ahead to the next ladder. This ladder was even longer. I climb down to the dry mud floor and walk until I can find the exit.

But suddenly there was a long mud puddle. I try to get my two hands and feet on the wall. But they keep slipping. So I had to put my feet in the puddle. I try to run the mud keeps pulling my legs. And my shoes were surrounded by the puddle and the wet mud. I get to the shallow part of the puddle and out we go. I look at my shoes and I could see it would be the new style of shoes in the future. Well the main part was to have a very fun time.

BREAKFAST:

Today was the day when we did the master chef competition. We got called out then we had to wash our hands and get our ingredients. We went to a table and started putting in the ingredients. We put in 1/2  cup of pancake flour. Add in 55 milters have milk with the flour in the bowl. And we put in melted butter. But there were  two more ingredients. We didn't even add the sugar and we didn't use the sugar in the pancakes. Anyway, we mixed the mixture together and we took all the ingredients outside and started putting in the mixture. And just a little demonstrate when you see a lot have bubbles come on the pancake, you will have to flip it over to see the other side if it looks fresh. We look underneath the pancake and we thought it was fresh and so we flipped it over. We continued with all the other mixter, and we put it on the plate that we were using for the pancakes. We put all the ingredients back inside and we racked the chocolate, decorated it around the pancake, We made the peachers surround the pancake and we got it ready for our judges. Miss America and Mr Italiano. The judges walk to group to group until he came to us. My feet were running in one spot because I was nervous that when we tested it out, it taste like nothing.  Well it's the judges choice rather they liked it or not. After they swallowed the food. They said it was.......................... yummy. Oh jeez. Maybe they liked the chocolate and the preachers. The judges did the score. Mr M turns the board for it to face us and the V8 JELLY BEANS had won. We got the score have 13. The others had like 15 16 18. I hope we win at lunch.

LUNCH:

Now for our menu was, Cheese, Salvoes, Bread,  And carrots. But we used the carrots for dinner. We started boiling up the salvoes and while Liam and Zach were watching that with David I buttered the bread inside. Jessica and Bidi were doing the veggies for dinner. The salvoes were reading and so David cut them up, placed the on top have the cheese put the bread and stuff inside it in the toaster oven and got it out to present too the judges. We had to do a presentation about it. So we chose Jessica. After she said the presentation we ate the same that we prepared to the judges. So they both did the score again and now this time the TITANS won.

DINNER:

I was so nervous because we were cooking meat for this. We grab our ingredients. The class goes crazy. We go back to our table and started sorting the plan. The veggies were done but we had to cook the meatballs and the noodles. We get cold water done and we start boiling. We cook the meat and it looked delicious. We bring the stuff inside dished it for us and the judges. We eat before the judges eat ours first. We finish our dish. We see the judges eat our food. They put on the score and the.................Titans had win again. “Well it wasn't really about winning it was about education and teamwork” I said to my group. But I forgot. We won at desert. Thats one thing for sure. Well done to the Lightning Bolts at desert.
